WEDNESDAY 3 to SATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER – THE 39 STEPS – 7.45pm (2.30 MATINEE SAT)
Inspired by John Buchan’s gripping spy novel and Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1935 film, Patrick Barlow’s hilarious, spectacular adaptation brings the greatest adventure story of the 20th century triumphantly to the stage, complete with such legendary scenes as the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the biplane crash, the election meeting, the night in the McGarrigle Hotel – and the death-defying finale at the London Palladium!

Statistics Unavailable is an exciting and thought provoking production consisting of four new pieces of writing exploring issues of human interaction, relationships and social dynamics. The title refers to the lack of data available concerning adult bullying in the workplace and at home.
The production seeks to question and challenge an audience through a range of theatrical genres such as comedy, drama and the downright absurd. The four pieces by West Midland writers are as follows:
Over and Out: Two intertwined monologues: secrets and the distress they have caused are slowly revealed.
Grievance: Dark humour: two employees who both feel wronged, lead their HR rep a merry dance.
The Diary: Serious drama: a volatile relationship is explored from the points of view of both partners.
Bullying 101: Comedy; a group of people attend a workshop led by a domineering bully whose methods challenge the participants’ perceptions about their own behaviours, attitudes and opinions.
Statistics Unavailable has been funded by Arts Council England, is touring to numerous festivals and events taking place across the country until November 2014.
FRIDAY 12 TO SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER – FIRST DO NO HARM – 7.30pm
Presented by Tea and Tenacity On the brink of WW1, Harold Leggett arrives in a small Fens backwater with his suffragist wife Maud to practise as the first ‘Panel’ doctor, discovering there is more than a little hostility to their ideologies. Events soon escalate into catastrophe. This performance examines a forgotten corner of history, encouraging discussion on the future of our health and welfare system.
This powerful, fast-moving performance, seen through the eyes of its female protagonists, dramatises a forgotten corner of history, charting the huge personal and societal cost of establishing a national healthcare service and securing universal suffrage
